2023 Season and Club Presentation

This season our club has grown from strength to strength!

We had three NetSetGo teams, two Junior teams, two Intermediate teams and one senior team. It has been so good to see a sea of red out there on the courts every Saturday!

We had two teams make their grand final – congratulations to The Burritos and the Breeze for your wins!

We also had three teams get so very close for a spot in the finals.

The Bandits losing by just one goal, The Barra’s missing out by 2 goals and The Byron Bae’s drawing, then playing extra time to lose by 1. A hard lesson to learn but that’s sport.

One of the best things about netball is making new friendships and having fun while doing sport! Well done to everyone for a great year.

We also hosted our Major Raffle, to raise much needed funds for the club. Thank you to all involved, it was a huge effort.

The prize winners can be found here.

2022 Club Presentation

Thank you to Byron Bay Services Club for hosting our end of season celebrations!

This season has been the first season in three years that we’ve had a full season with semi and finals being played. It has been full and fun! We’ve had Crazy Hair and Sock Day which raises funds for childhood cancer.

We also organsied a trip up to Brisbane to watch the Suncorp Super Netball. We were lucky enough to watch a great game between the Firebirds and the West Coast Fever. The WCF ended up being in the Grand Final but lost to Melbourne Vixens. The day out was a great way for our players to spend time together off the court while still enjoying the game of netball.

Netball isn’t just about Saturday Games its about all the fun we have being part of a team. Training this year was as always fun but earlier in the season we had the army camped nearby, which made for an interesting afternoon. Training is a chance for players to bond and develop their skills. Our coaches are amazing and we are so thankful to them for all prep and effort they put into their training sessions. Its also lots of fun the teams practice by playing each other or when a parent subs on to help out.

I’m sure we’ve all experienced a lot of wet weather this year with lots of rainy days. However, netball doesn’t rest and our players have played in some interesting weather.

Some of our teams participated in the All Age Carnival, a carnival that involved clubs from outside our association such as Lismore, Inverell, Mclean and some from the gold coast among others. An opportunity for our players to complete in a carnival like atmosphere by playing several different teams throughout the day.

It certainly challenges players in their strength and endurance as its quite a taxing day.

Some of our players have developed their skills even further by umpiring. It’s a great way to improve their knowledge of the game but also assist our players in developing their leadership skills, which can carry over into other aspects of their life. We encourage all players to think about this opportunity in the future.

Coaches are an asset to our club. Without our volunteers coaches we couldn’t put a team together. Our volunteer coaches are amazing people and put in so much effort and time to ensuring the players in their care are supported in developing their skills while having fun.

2021 Presentation Celebrations

2021 was a challenging year in so many ways for everybody. The season unfortunately ended with no finals being played. However, we did manage to play some fantastic netball throughout the season and everyone had a great time, developed their skills and met new friends.

UNIFORMS SUBSIDISED

SLL LogoJUNIOR DRESSES SUBSIDISED THANKS TO NEW SPONSOR, SOMERVILLE LAUNDRY LOMAX

The Committee is thrilled to announce our new partnership with local law firm Somerville Laundry Lomax, who have come on board to support the Byron Bay Netball Club junior teams (the under 12’s and the Net Set Go 8 – 10 year old group). The sponsorship provided by Somerville Laundry Lomax has enabled us to subsidise the cost of our new junior uniforms – reducing the price of each uniform to only $65. Thank you Somerville Laundry Lomax, for helping us keep junior sport accessible to all families!

We also hope to build a supply of secondhand dresses for future junior players. To achieve this, at the end of the season the committee will seek to buy back junior uniforms in good condition that have either been outgrown or are no longer needed. Rest assured, our new uniforms will be made of high quality lycra, designed to grow with your child, with a view to getting more than one season from the dress.
